VANCOUVER, CANADA – Novarc Technologies Inc. a Canadian-based robotics company specializing in the design and commercialization of cobots and AI systems for robotic welding applications, is pleased to announce that Mr. Mahyar Asadi (PhD, PEng, PMP, IWE) has been appointed Vice President of Innovations at Novarc Technologies Inc.

“We are very excited that Dr. Asadi has joined the Novarc team”, said Soroush Karimzadeh, CEO of Novarc Technologies. “Mahyar’s extensive industrial experience in advanced welding using simulations and machine learning will propel Novarc to the next stage of the company’s development of intelligent AI-based systems for robotic welding.”

I’ve seen the benefits of the company’s core product – the collaborative Spool Welding Robot (SWR) – and I’m looking forward to applying state-of-the-art innovations to the integration of sensory data, machine learning and simulation tools to further enhance their solutions”, says Mahyar.

Before joining Novarc, Mahyar was the Advanced Engineering Manager at Applus Canada, providing innovation-based services focusing on cyber-manufacturing using computational modeling, machine learning, digital twins, IIoT, and simulation tools for welding production and welded products, including metal additive manufacturing.

Mahyar has a Ph.D. in Computational Weld Mechanics and more than 15 years of experience applying his knowledge to the automotive, aircraft, marine, medical devices, energy, oil & gas, and heavy machinery industries. He holds a Professional Engineering Licence, PMP certificate, IWE designation, ASME FFS, Digital Twins, and Machine Learning Certificates. He is also an adjunct professor in the Manufacturing Program at the University of British Columbia, teaching a signature course on “Welding and Joining of Materials”.

Asadi’s portfolio consists of more than 110 publications. He is the recipient of significant awards from IIW, CWB, ASME, and NSERC for innovative work and peer recognition.
