FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 18, 2019
VANCOUVER, CANADA – Novarc Technologies, a Vancouver-based robotics company specializing in the design and commercialization of collaborative robots for industrial applications, announced today it has been named to Rocket Builders’ seventeenth (17th) annual “Ready to Rocket” list. The list profiles British Columbia technology companies that are best positioned to capitalize on the technology sector trends that will lead them to faster growth than their peers.
“Each year when we choose the Ready to Rocket companies, we are looking for those companies that have best matched technical innovation with market opportunity. Novarc Technologies is an excellent example of the right technology for the right customers at the right time,” said Reg Nordman, Managing Partner, Rocket Builders.
“We are very proud to be named to the 2019 Rocket Builder list,” says Soroush Karimzadeh, CEO and Co-Founder of Novarc Technologies. “Novarc’s Spool Welding Robot (SWR) is the world’s first collaborative welding robot designed to semi-automate the pipe welding process, which is providing a solution to the global labour shortage of highly-skilled welders, presenting a significant market opportunity for our technology. As well, we are expanding overseas so this recognition is a solid endorsement of our market potential”
As a collaborative robot, Novarc’s SWR works along with the human operator to allow less-skilled welders to do the work of highly-skilled welders, by combining the cognition of a lower-skilled welder with the repeatable motion of our robot. As a result, Novarc’s SWR can produce high quality welds consistently, and significantly increases welder productivity and safety.
Novarc’s breakthrough collaborative SWR is a semi-automated robotic solution designed for pipe welding, small pressure vessel manufacturing and other 1G welding applications. Novarc’s SWR utilizes a three-axis robotic arm at the end of a long reach manipulator, which increases the dexterity and flexibility of the human operator, improving productivity on the shop floor and reducing costs for the pipe shop.
The annual 2019 “Ready to Rocket” lists provide accurate predictions of private companies that will likely experience significant growth, venture capital investment or acquisition by a major player in the coming year. This year the lists feature 203 companies across 5 different technology sectors: Novarc was included in the Cleantech sector.
“We are very excited to be recognized for the clean tech benefits of Novarc’s solution, as the benefits are often not clear,” says Karimzadeh.
There are number of benefits of Novarc’s SWR for welders and the environment, notably: 1) reduction in welder fatigue; 2) reduction in exposure to health hazards such as flashing by arc, UV light, carcinogenic fumes and excessive heat; 3) reduction in release of ambient fumes; and, 4) reduction of defect rates and waste.
The “Ready to Rocket” lists are the only predictive lists of its kind in North America, requiring many months of sector and company analysis.
